In just their second year of existence, the Florence Flamingos have established themselves both in the community and in the Coastal Plain League as an outstanding organization. The team won Fan Favorite for Best Place for Family Fun in the 2023 Best of the Pee Dee Awards. The Flamingos play in the nearly-brand new Carolina Bank Field, and keep the ballpark spotless. The team notched six more wins this season, and also only had one home game get rained out. The organization prides themselves on putting in extreme effort to ensure every game gets played.

The team’s motto is Flamingos, Fans and Fun and they exemplify this with their in-game entertainment. Flamingos players did post-game autographs every single home game, up until the last fan left. Their interactions with fans weren’t limited to Florence – several fans from away games (Morehead City, Macon and Wilmington to name a few) reached out on social media with photos, videos and stories of their kids interacting with Flamingo players. The team thrived on social media this season: On TikTok alone, followers increased by 750% over only three months, with 16 videos getting over 10,000 views and one with nearly 700,000 views. The Flamingos had 12 sellouts and three games saw the highest crowd in attendance on record, surpassing the record each time. There was also a record number of host families this season. Post-game survey results revealed fans were very pleased with their Flamingos experience, and specifically mentioned staff members by name of how friendly and respectful they were.

The Flamingos made a big impact in both the Florence and Pee Dee areas off the field as well. In season, players attended several kids camps in the community (All4Autism, to name one) and Flo made public appearances at places like Sonic and Darlington Raceway. The team welcomed groups such as Care House of the Pee Dee, The Miracle League, House of Hope, and First Responders from the community to Carolina Bank Field for different games, giving each group a one-of-a-kind experience. The Flamingos partnered with MUSC for their Home Run for Life this year, which honored a local doctor who is currently fighting breast cancer. The biggest impact was through their partnership with Sonic: 10¢ from a Flamingo-themed slush went directly to a fund which benefited five local nonprofits, raising over $1,250. The organization also works with local schools with their Tools for Teachers program, which encourages students to behave and perform better in the classroom, rewarding them with unique Flamingos experiences. All Flockstars who completed the program were able to spend a day at the ballpark and were recognized at one of the home games as well.
