Coaching Staff

Tyson Ellis will serve his first summer as the Head Coach for the Flamingos in 2025. Ellis currently serves as the pitching coach at Eastern Florida State College Titans in Melbourne, Florida. In Ellis’ first season as the pitching coach for the Titans, the pitching staff accrued a 5.02 ERA for the season and finished 2nd in Hits allowed, 3rd in BBs allowed, and 4th in WHIP in the Region 8 Citrus Conference. His staff also saw 2 All-Conference selections, and a handful of sophomores moving on to the Division 1 level.

Prior to Eastern Florida, Ellis made coaching stops at Camp Community College in Franklin, Virginia, as well as Florida State College of Jacksonville in Jacksonville, FL. Serving in an assistant coach role, Ellis helped both Camp CC and FSCJ make NJCAA World Series appearances for the first time in school history for their respective divisions.

In the summer of 2024 Ellis served as the pitching coach for the Minot Hot Tots in the Northwoods Collegiate Summer League. He gained valuable experience managing over 40 arms throughout the grueling 70 game NWL schedule while having the opportunity to work with several high level arms. Ellis was also the pitching coach for the Western Nebraska Pioneers unaffiliated summer collegiate baseball team in the summer 2023. The Pioneers staff under Ellis amassed a 4.25 ERA in 339 IP. Pioneer pitchers Jacob Mead and Tyler Bryant signed professional contracts during the summer of 2023.

As a player, Ellis made stops at USC Upstate, Gulf Coast State College, Pensacola State College, and ultimately finished his playing career at Troy University in Troy, Alabama where he was teammates with Flamingos pitching coach Logan Ross.

Native of Lake City, Florida, Ellis finished his playing career at Troy University in 2021 where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. He is currently working towards a Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership to be completed in the Spring of 2026.
