Florence Flamingos Name Tyson Ellis as Head Coach for 2025 Season

Florence, SC – The Florence Flamingos are excited to announce that Tyson Ellis will serve as the Head Coach

for the 2025 summer season. Ellis, who currently serves as the pitching coach at Eastern Florida State

College, brings a wealth of experience and a strong track record of success at the collegiate and summer

league levels.

In his first season as the pitching coach for the Eastern Florida State College Titans, Ellis guided his staff to a

5.02 ERA, finishing second in hits allowed, third in walks allowed, and fourth in WHIP within the Region 8

Citrus Conference. Under his leadership, two pitchers earned All-Conference honors, and several sophomores

advanced to the Division I level.

Before joining Eastern Florida State, Ellis made impactful coaching stops at Camp Community College in

Virginia and Florida State College of Jacksonville, helping both programs make NJCAA World Series

appearances for the first time in their respective divisions.

Ellis also brings valuable summer collegiate coaching experience. In 2024, he served as the pitching coach for

the Minot Hot Tots in the Northwoods League, managing a pitching staff of over 40 arms across a grueling 70-

game schedule. Prior to that, he was the pitching coach for the Western Nebraska Pioneers in 2023, where his

staff compiled a 4.25 ERA over 339 innings pitched. Two of his pitchers, Jacob Mead and Tyler Bryant, went

on to sign professional contracts following the summer season.

A native of Lake City, Florida, Ellis had an accomplished playing career, making stops at USC Upstate, Gulf

Coast State College, and Pensacola State College before finishing at Troy University in Alabama. While at Troy,

he was teammates with current Flamingos pitching coach Logan Ross. Ellis earned his Bachelor’s Degree in

Interdisciplinary Studies from Troy in 2021 and is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Organizational

Leadership, set to be completed in the Spring of 2026.

The Florence Flamingos are thrilled to welcome Coach Ellis to the organization and look forward to his

leadership in the upcoming season.
